Casa Margareta

A renovation project was proposed for the existing house. We surveyed the property and advised that serious foundation problems and poor original construction did not make this viable. A new house was designed and is under construction.

Conservation Suggestions:

For a new design it is essential that the Eco- Construction criteria are set out at the outset encompassing layout, orientation, shade, heating and cooling requirements, water use, layout, thermal insulation levels, sound insulation requirements, etc. A balanced approach to all criteria is required; a building design is not just room layouts.
When renovating a survey of the whole building is required to obtain a picture of how the building is working, where any faults lie, (not just fabric problems but comfort, light, heat, cooling, humidity etc.) From this a plan for renovation can be made.

Design

We offer a design service for you to get the project defined. Pre designed house plans are available, these can be modified and tailored to your specific needs or a design made from scratch to your taste and requirements.

Administration

In Spain there are many administrative tasks to fulfil before work can begin. We can handle the administration for you; the extent and content of this will vary depending on a number of factors and may need to involve members of the local school of architects and site supervisors.

Consultation

We can act as consultant for your project to advise on design, details, engineering, materials and construction and/or as project manager to help you start the project in the best way and maintain the project schedule and price. We can also oversee work on site to ensure compliance with the drawings and standards.

Surveys

We can perform surveys and provide reports for structural and building condition and include improvement possibilities where required.

Main Contractor

If you have your project defined and are looking for a contractor to perform the work we can do this for you.

Timber Frame

Where a timber frame is specified we can provide the design, detail, engineering, fabrication and erection of this.

Timber roofing is a specialist activity and this can be carried out including installation of roof tiles and formation of hips and valleys if required.

Refurbishment

If your home has damp walls, cold walls in winter and hot in summer, failing plaster, old plumbing and electrics you may wish to refurbish. We can advise and perform this for you.
